2016 Holiday Resource List

We understand that the holiday season is not always a time of joy and celebration for many reasons. Added expenses and expectations can cause feelings of stress, anxiety and and hopelessness. If you are in need of assistance this holiday season, we have compiled a list of resources in Portland, OR and Las Vegas, NV that you may be able to access. Each organization has their own deadlines and criteria, but we hope to make it easier for you to find the assistance you need.
As always, if you work in the sex industry and need support or resources, please don’t hesitate to contact us. While we don’t have any holiday specific resources, we can go through our process with you to meet other needs, particularly for mental health. The holiday season is a peak time for depression and suicide. We want you to know that you are not alone and help is available.
Portland, OR Resource List:
Salvation Army
There are usually multiple centers that offer Christmas dinners or presents for children. If a location is not running a program in a certain year, the client may be given a referral to another local non-profit in Multnomah County or another area that is available. Gifts are for Children under the age of 12. Families will receive a box of food for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Not only will they try to have gifts for children, but other, long term support is arranged too.

The charity offers meals at Thanksgiving. There may be scarves, hats, coffee, and more. Winter coats may be passed out at Christmas. Clients range from the homeless to Portland or Clackamas families in extreme poverty.
Toys Tots in Greater Portland Oregon

Portland Fire & Rescue’s (PF&R) Toy N Joy Makers
Over 30 different stations participate. They also partner with local counties and state governments. Volunteers collect items, such as toys and more, year round. This is a free service and Portland Oregon area residents can learn about services in the entire region. Families can call 866-698-6155 for resources.
Lift Urban Portland Address is 2701 NW Vaughn St #102 Portland, OR 97210 (503) 221-1224 A free Christmas dinner is served. The charity may also pass out hygiene items too, such as lotions, soap, coats, boots and more.
Las Vegas, NV Resources:
Salvation Army of Vegas and Clark County 1581 N. Main St. North Las Vegas, Nevada, 89030 Dial the site at 702-649-8240 They offer several holiday programs to the less fortunate, children, homebound and senior citizens. One of the main ones is the Christmas Angel Program. It generally helps children under the age of 14 and will provide them with free gifts, toys, and other support. There are several other corp centers in the greater Clark County Nevada region as well.
Additional sites may be located at 830 E. Lake Mead Dr., Henderson, NV, 89015, 702-565-9578. This center may also have financial aid and other forms of emergency support.
HELP of Southern Nevada Main address – 1640 E. Flamingo Rd,. #100 Las Vegas, NV, 89119 Call 702-369-4357 for details. The main program to apply, or donate to, is Holiday Adopt – A – Family (AAF). Individuals or businesses in Clark County that are expressing an interest in adopting a child or a family for the holidays will be given information about the family and what they need. This includes clothing sizes and a wish list. The contributor will then need to buy those items for the family and they will be presented them as Christmas gifts. A number of requirements are needed in order to apply for help, including income tax return for previous year, birth certificates, proof of income and more.

This can include holiday meals, free toys, clothing, and gifts for children at Christmas.Thanksgiving Assistance from LSSN This runs out of a site at 73 Spectrum Road Las Vegas, NV, 89101 Main number is 702-639-1730 This program will serve focus on this season. Free Thanksgiving Turkeys, Hams, pies, cranberry, and more is offered. The homebound may be able to receive home delivered meals.Community Services of Nevada Address is 730 W Cheyenne Avenue North Las Vegas, Nevada 89030 Dial 702-307-1710 Free Christmas toys and holiday gifts are provided to income qualified Clark County families. There may be games, shoes, clothing, and more available as the result of donations from volunteers.
Toys for Tots There are several non-profits that participate. The focus on providing free gifts, games, stocking stuffers, and other items to young children in Clark County.
