2016 Holiday Resource List

We understand that the holiday season is not always a time of joy and celebration for many reasons. Added expenses and expectations can cause feelings of stress, anxiety and and hopelessness. If you are in need of assistance this holiday season, we have compiled a list of resources in Portland, OR and Las Vegas, NV that you may be able to access. Each organization has their own deadlines and criteria, but we hope to make it easier for you to find the assistance you need. As always, if you work in the sex industry and need support or resources, please don’t hesitate to contact us. While we don’t have any holiday specific resources, we can go through our process with you to meet other...

New Year, New Beginnings

With new years, come new beginnings...new hopes for health and happiness, new dreams and goals, and new plans put in place to best ensure success in the year to come. The Cupcake Girls are celebrating the new year with a new beginning of our own; one we are very excited to share with you, and which we’re confident will allow us to give our best to those we care for throughout the year to come. Five years ago, The Cupcake Girls was founded on a core belief that all people deserve respect, dignity, and access to resources that will allow them to empower their pursuits, and that we were uniquely positioned to offer this to adult entertainers. This year, we are very excited to roll out a...

What in the world is "Cupcake Academy"?

One of our core values is to be progressive. We always want to grow as an organization and develop better skills to assist the adult entertainment community. We want to provide our clients with all the tools they need to live healthy, inspired lives. A few months ago, we asked some of our clients what kinds of resources we could provide that they would find useful. When we gathered the results, the overwhelming choice was monthly classes to provide education on a variety of topics. With this new feedback, we launched a new component of our Direct Care services for clients – monthly enrichment classes, with topics that the clients choose. We call it “Cupcake Academy.” You might have...

"Why Strippers?"

We get asked this question at almost every event we attend, at least once, but usually several times. It’s a common question, especially in a society that both objectifies and diminishes women. So…why “strippers”? First of all, we don’t really love that word, so you will never hear any Cupcake Girls using it, and we actually work with clients in all aspects of the adult entertainment industry, including people who work at strip clubs, all types of sex workers, and people in the adult film industry. The majority of our clients are women, but we are available and willing to help men & LGBTQ people who work in the adult industry. We happen to believe that everyone deserves to be...

AVN 2015 – Sharing Our Hearts

Everything of value that we will know in this life comes from our relationships with those around us. There is nothing material that measures against the intangibles of love and friendship. ― R.A. Salvatore Relationships are the foundation upon which we build our lives. When we volunteer, we often start out with the intention of helping others, but surprisingly, we find our own lives changed in the process.  The 2015 AVN Cupcake Suite was just that kind of opportunity for our volunteer team. We welcomed over 400 entertainers into our suite for relaxation, food, and complimentary spa services. While we were there to offer love and support to them, our own lives were altered in the best...

Preparing for the AVN Awards

Our motto at The Cupcake Girls is “Respect, Resources, and Relationships.” Because we always strive to provide our clients with the very best we have to offer, we make training volunteers and staff a high priority.   For the past two weeks, Cupcake Girls Las Vegas has been busy preparing for our biggest event of the year – a relaxation suite at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for the annual AVN awards.  To make this event a success, it takes an army of volunteers, as well as spa & beauty professionals who are willing to donate their time and talents.  To be fully prepared, we have held three recent training sessions: one for new volunteers, one for volunteers moving into more...

New Year's Resolutions

We are a few days into 2015 and the topic of the hour is probably those pesky New Year’s Resolutions. Maybe you haven’t made any yet or maybe you’ve already broken some of yours. The wonderful thing about goals is that you can set them at any time and decide to keep trying tomorrow no matter what setback comes your way. We all need goals to stay motivated and measure our successes (our directors set goals every month!). The Cupcake Girls offer respect, resources, and relationships to adult entertainers in Portland and Las Vegas through every season and situation.  We want to hear about your resolutions for the coming year and how we can work together to achieve those goals.   We...

A Clean Slate

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.” –Neil Gaiman 2014 was an eventful year for The Cupcake Girls. We grew, we changed, we reached out a hand of support, and we made a few mistakes along the way. Mistakes are proof that you are trying…that you are changing…that you are becoming more than you once were. May we always attempt to become more. As we say hello to 2015, we want to challenge all of you to come and grow...

A Very Merry Christmas

We went into clubs on Saturday, December 20th for our customary monthly visits, armed with cupcakes and hand-designed Christmas gifts for all of our clients. I connected with several women who had never heard of us before. With these initial interactions, I always emphasize that although we come to the clubs monthly with cupcakes and complimentary hair and make-up services, our main support network for our clients comes from the one-on-one relationships we build as we hear their stories and connect them with any resources they might be looking for. As I was curling someone’s hair, another woman came up to me and started asking more about the services we offer. I was thrilled to expand upon...
